About Shawndel

I have a passion for reading. Reading takes you to a new journey in every book that is read. My pleasure is in helping others gain skills in reading. Reading is the key to life's treasures!

I am mother of two as well as a professional in job placement services for over ten years. As you can see, I imensely enjoy helping others.

I first started early education reading tutoring while working on the job. I fell in love with the students and the progress they made and continued the journey each school year for a couple of years.

I started by helping grades 1-4 elementary school students advance to grade level reading. I feel in love with helping students read. I am an avid reader and love to pass this passion along.

I have an extensive background in Corporate America. I studied Psychology.

About the lesson

When starting to work with a new student I like to hold an intake meeting. During this meeting we find out what are the challenges and where we can form a plan of action to move forward.

I have worked mostly with elementary students with various learning needs. However, I am open to adults and anyone that is need of assistance.

I would advise the student to be honest with their struggles and see if the teacher is a good listener with a reasonable plan to help achieve goals.

I love going to the library. I have loved doing this since I was a kid. Seeing all of the books, magazines, and activities is such a thrill.

Students should assess their level of reading and writing. Find out what are the stumbling blocks to reading and share this information with the teacher for assistance.
