About Katie
I have always known that I wanted to make a difference. Being the people person that I am, I knew that I needed a profession where I could impact those around me and change their lives for the better. Teaching fits all of these criteria. Having the ability to prepare children for their future endeavors is not only a lot of pressure, but also an honor. Teachers can leave a positive mark on a child’s life, and I hope to do the same.
I originally became interested in becoming a teacher because I always have enjoyed school. I was never the child who dreaded going and who did not try. I actually found the material intriguing. Learning is fun! I always strived to do well to make my parents proud and it was always the best feeling when something of mine went up on the fridge. Not only were my parents proud of me, but also I was proud of myself.
After countless hours of volunteering in classrooms, teaching religious education classes, and tutoring, I am convined that I am in the right field. It is the greatest feeling when someone you look up to in the field of education says to you, “You are going to make such a great teacher.” In those moments, I am pushed even further to work harder in order to become the best possible teacher that I can be. I want to be there for my students. I want to make school enjoyable for them. I want them to know that the world is out there waiting for them. I want them to know that I care. I want to make a difference in their lives.
I received an amazing education and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Dayton with a degree in education. I currently work in a public school system while attaining my master's degree. I am so passionate about learning and I cannot wait to assist the children of our future!
