About Dana
As a dyslexia therapist, I address the whole person by working not only on reading, writing and spelling, but self-concept and emotional issues that often accompany reading difficulties and dyslexia.
(concealed information)
The kids. I love the smiles that spread across their faces, the light in their eyes that reflects pure joy as they grasp concepts that have eluded them. Kids are very intuitive and I love being their cheerleader. I explain what their brains are doing as they progress through the steps of reading. They are proud of their progress because they are making permanent changes!
When I learned that my 7 year old son couldn't read, my sole mission was to finding a way to teach him to read. Now that he is grown, my system has helped numerous children do the same.

ONLINE therapy!! I began working with students online in 2015 and have perfected my system a long time before covid! I meet with the parent and student for a free assessment. Afterward, the parent and I discuss my initial observations and share my plan to move the student forward. We set a date and time for us to meet regularly.
I have worked with K-high schoolers specializing in dyslexia, reading, spelling and writing.
If a student has trouble with reading, they need a teacher with specialized training. Specifically, ask for a tutor/therapist who uses an Orton-Gillingham based approach. Orton-Gillingham uses multi-sensory methods to teach foundational skills that the student needs to be successful in reading.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What specific areas are they needing help with? What problems are they experiencing?
2. What are the students' goals?
3. How much time does the student have available each week? Will homework be assigned?

Dana has a wonderful rapport with my son. She has gotten to know him quite well, throughout this year and last. She is genuinely interested in her students and uses her knowledge of who they are to motivate and encourage them. My son has come so far in his fluency and comprehension. His inferencing skills are quite high and carry over to other areas, outside of academia. Dana went above and beyond, by custom fitting the curriculum, to meet Greg’s needs. I am proud of my son and very thankful to Dana. She is also very flexible and has worked well with my son’s public school schedule. She has given me support as a parent of a dyslexic child, and has even helped me work with the school and my son’s IEP.I would highly recommend Dana!
My daughter has struggled with reading since kindergarten. She’s now in third grade and was able to have her tested and was diagnosed with dyslexia. I knew you we needed outside help to get her to the reading level she should be at. I searched and searched and only found places 45 mins away. I seen a sign for Dana and decided to try it. We met and started working with her the next week! My daughter loves Dana! She brings out the craziness out in my daughter but still teaching her! I’m so glad we found Dana! I highly recommend her if your child is struggling! So far we have seen a huge difference in my daughter!!! As soon as we are complete with a session my daughter is begging to go back the next night!!! Thank you Dana!!!!

My fee is $75 per hour and it is imperative that I meet with the student twice per week, so $150 per week. Any less than that and the progress will be much slower.
