About Barbara

I have an extensive background in all types of sewing, patterning,draping, and construction. In addition, I also have a background in HANDSEWING techniques- embroidery, quilting, fabric piecing, as well as fabric dyeing and weaving.

s hold a MFA from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU in Costume and Lighting Design for Theatre. While attending grad school, I worked in the major costume shops in NYC and regionally. I spent 16 years designing costumes before beginning to teach sewing privately and at the college level. Having this background, allows me to work with many different shapes and fabric combinations.

I have also recently started a line of clothing for people in wheelchairs called e-Ispirante. There is an accent over the e, although my phone keyboard is not allowing me to put that in.
