About Natalie

Being a performer myself and a vocal student at Berklee College of Music, singing is my passion and greatest love. I started taking lessons at the age of 5, and have worked with several different vocal coaches throughout the years. Through that, I've learned a variety of techniques and skills that I personally utilize as a singer, such as breathing techniques and control, pitch and tone techniques, adequate vocal exercises, live performance skills, and healthy mindset practices. I've performed at a variety of venues, ranging from local community events to paid gigs to large galas to school shows. I've also done studio work, both in and out of school.

Music and singing is my passion, and I love being able to spread that passion to others and give them an artistic outlet for expression.

A lot of what I teach comes from actual experience. I've been a singer/performer all my life and have been taking vocal lessons since I was 5 years old. I've had three different instructors within the past 14 years, so I've picked up several different methods of vocal coaching and training. Also, being in a music school, every day I learn from my fellow students and teachers. I've also performed live at numerous occasions and locations, and have also done studio work.

About the lesson

I like to do the first lesson free of charge, and as a sort of "introductions" class. I meet with both the parents and student and discuss what sort of arrangement they would like in terms of the lesson time/schedule, get a chance to meet the student and learn about them and what they hope to get out of their lessons, and if they'd like, have a quick introductory vocal lesson so that they get an idea of what our lessons will be like.

The most important thing is to find someone who loves what they do, and is trying to spread that passion onto you. That's really the most important thing. There is a wide range of correct vocal-teaching methods and techniques, so it's all about just finding the teacher who is a good fit for you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you want to get out of your lessons! Have you been singing ever since you can remember, and want to pursue that in a more professional way? Or, have you always liked singing but never tried it, and just want to take lessons for fun? There is no right or wrong answer. If you are more serious about pursuing singing, maybe think about what aspects of singing you want to improve upon (i.e. breath control, pitch/tone, live performance, audition skills, riffing, etc.).

Details

I'm a college student, and with that, won't charge as much as other vocal coaches. I usually stick by a rate of $50/hr. If a price needs to discussed, I am more than happy to have that discussion with the parents.
