About Mark

My purpose as a voice teacher is to provide a safe place for singers to reach their maximum potential. To help them improve upon what the already do well and to guide them in the removal of the impediments that are preventing them from being successful.

In my 3 decades of teaching, I have enjoyed working with singers from the beginning of their training as children, through their teen years, and into adulthood. My students have been successful at every level, and several have gone on to perform professionally in theaters throughout the world.

I have degrees in Vocal Performance from Boston University and Rutgers University. I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Actor's Equity Association, and the American Guild of Musical Artists.

I have performed extensively as a Concert Artist, Theater Artist, and an Operatic Tenor. (Metropolitan Opera)

I have been the Director of Liturgical Music for the Church of the Assumption, Wrightstown, NJ, since 1999.

I began teaching while a graduate student at Rutgers University and haven't looked back.

Education does not end.
My Bachelors Degree in Singing is from Boston University.
My Masters Degree is from Rutgers University.
My experience as a professional singer has been priceless.
I've performed as a professional singer in several styles, including Broadway (member of Actor's Equity), Classical (Metropolitan Opera), and Commercial Music, including Pop and Rock.
I continue taking my own private lessons and periodically attend classes to keep up with the latest research concerning all styles of singing.

About the lesson

Needs differ. I meet my clients where they are in their development, guiding them toward their goals in a safe, healthy, informed way.

I have worked with students of many types with diverse goals: children, tweens, teens, adults, beginners, experienced amateurs, and experienced professionals.

My students have gone on to perform professionally and/or for the love of it, in many venues and styles, including Broadway, Disney, Opera, Religious, Pop, and Rock.

Guidelines for choosing a voice teacher:

Look for a teacher who has a degree in vocal performance—either a bachelor’s degree or a master’s in music.

Look for a teacher who has had a professional singing career.

Look for a teacher who understands the genre you sing.

Look for a teacher with good ears who is immediately able to identify your bad habits and give you practical tools to undo them.

Look for a teacher with whom you feel comfortable being vulnerable; working on your voice can be an intense and even an emotional experience.

Look for a teacher who understands what kind of learner you are and keep that in mind when trying out teachers.

Famous students do not always mean a teacher is good. More often than not, it just means they are expensive.

If you leave a voice lesson feeling vocally fatigued, that is generally a red flag.
