About Ryan

I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to build a healthy and sustainable relationship with your voice. Singing is a vulnerable experience, and such an amazing one at that. I approach vocal technique both from a scientific perspective, as well as an artistic perspective, so that the singer can know what is exactly happening in their body, but having the potential to paint a beautiful picture on a sonic canvas.

I have had the opportunity to study with amazing artists who have remained busy and diligent in the Broadway community. I am very passionate about passing down what I have learned to a brand new generation of artists and singers.

I got started teaching right before I went to college to help pay for my tuition. My love of teaching was only further ignited by the education I've had the opportunity to receive from some of the most influential teachers I could have possibly worked with. Doing this has made me want to pass down what I know to my students.

I hold a BFA in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (sepcifically from the New Studio on Broadway and Experimental Theatre Wing). I have been studying the voice for 12 years, and have been teaching for 6.

About the lesson

When meeting a new student, my first objective is to ensure the student feels comfortable, and at ease. They will be singing in front of a stranger, which can be daunting! I like to establish that studying with me is a safe place to get messy, make mistakes, and grow. Everyone starts from the same place of having a voice. All it takes is kindness, patience, and hard work on both the teacher, as well as the student.

I usually charge $30 for a full hour lesson. Should accompaniment be needed (if a track is unavailable on YouTube, iTunes etc,) I can record one for $5- this is the same price as buying the sheet music on Musicnotes.com
