About Sherdale

Hi, My name is Sherdale Smith. I am a native Southern Mississippian currently residing in Southern California.

I have coached all ages, backgrounds, and all levels of vocal music. I have a strong passion to help singers find their voice or reclaim it.

For those who lack confidence and need that guidance on their vocal journey....or maybe you walked away from singing and fell away from the discipline of keeping your vocal instrument polished, well... Let me tell ya it's never too late and you are never too far away from your dreams.

I welcome beginner and advanced students, Artists, or members of an ensemble or a choir.

(Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass)

Vocal Coach Class:

Ear Training, Pitch Accuracy, Proper Breathing, Blend, Melody, Harmony, Dynamics, Registers, Range (finding your voice), Genre/Style, Song Break down, and Stage Performance.

Class in Music Theory:

Scales-(Chromatic, major and minors and “their relatives”, and pentatonic.)

Pitch, Notation, Time & Key Signatures, Rhythm, andTempo.

Intervals and Inversions, Modes, Chords, and Chord Progressions.

Classical (Baritone) 2014-current.

Tours: Japan2013, Hawaii2016, and Russia2019.

Three Carnegie Hall appearances.

Columbia Recording R&B Artist: 2001

National Awards of Choral Conductor and Ensemble 95-99 Shrine Auditorium.

My greatest joy is when I know I am making a difference in someone's musical journey, and that I can share my knowledge and passion for the arts, at the same time encourage others to realize their dreams of being a Singer/Vocalist/Artist.

I've always felt I was born to be a music teacher. I started teaching choir at the age of 16 at my church. I had a very good ear to teach harmony and voicing.

I started singing at the age of 4 shadowing my grandmother's voice. I've sung in school choirs from junior high through high school. I relocated to Southern California to further my career in music and was signed to a production contract soon after at the age of 25.

In my mid 30' I decided to enroll in El Camino College to take some music classes to further my skills and knowledge.s. For sight-singing, music theory, and choral music, I studied under Dr. Joanna Medawar Nachef and piano under Professor James Hurd.

After acquiring this discipline, I became a better singer and vocal coach. My passion and love to teach it to others grew stronger, from my tone-deaf siblings to intermediate singers in the industry.
