About Salmena

With over 12 years of experience lecturing at top universities in the UK and China, I offer bespoke tutoring that prioritises creative identity over grade chasing. I specialise in Fashion, Textile and Product Design. I guide students through the full design lifecycle, from in depth research and development, sketchbook storytelling, to technical execution such as pattern cutting and garment construction. As an FHEA Fellow and former Buyer, I don’t just teach you how to pass; I provide a nurturing, honest space to build the skills and confidence needed to navigate Higher Education and succeed in industry. I want to guide you to find your ‘why’ so that we can develop the ‘how’.

About the lesson

My sessions offer personalised 1:1 online tutoring designed to analyse and refine your current skills and processes. This is a space where you can share your work and receive mentor style support; my approach is built on partnership rather than simply telling you what to do. I place a strong emphasis on critical thinking; helping you question your choices and look deeper at your work to ensure every design decision has a clear purpose.

Whether you want to solidify research methodology, progress your idea development, or refine visual communication, I create a learning environment bespoke to your specific needs and pace. If you are navigating a university project or building a portfolio for academia or industry, I will guide you to elevate your skills, knowledge, and creative confidence.
