About Joe

Hi! My name`s Joe and I am currently working towards my PhD in History at the University of Southampton. I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Further Education, and have a MA and BA from the University of Southampton, and I have been offering expert tuition in A-level History and Government & Politics since 2014.

My approach to one-to-one tuition tailors to the individual needs of each and every student, allowing you to build on your strengths, recognise areas in need improvement, boost your self-confidence, and achieve that all important grade.
Throughout my tutoring experience I have sought to make the subject of study as enjoyable and as engaging as possible with a great deal of success. But above all my aim is to develop your independence and build the resilience needed to take on new challenges beyond the A-level, beyond university and beyond the classroom.

As a PhD History candidate, I have an acute and advanced understanding of the skills required to be a `good historian`; an insight which I can use to help you master the subject. As part of my PhD, I also teach undergraduate students at the University of Southampton, giving me a unique perspective of what is required to excel, not only at your A-level, but beyond. I have tutored a wide variety of topics within history from the Norman Conquests, Pitt the Younger, Chairman Mao, all the way up to the present day. No matter what period of study or exam board you are with, I am more than happy to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed for you to succeed.

My experience tutoring A-level Government and Politics is matched only by my continuous and long-standing enthusiasm for all things political. I have taught the full range of modules within Government & Politics. Whether you are learning the subject for the first time or resitting your exam, lessons are tailored to help you engage with Government & Politics in an exciting and thought-provoking way; combing in-depth and up to date analysis of current political events with a comprehensive grounding in political theory - all whilst making it enjoyable too!
