About Deckens

Hello! I’m Deckens, a passionate Mathematics and Biology educator who enjoys helping students understand subjects that may initially seem difficult or confusing.

I hold a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Biology, and through my teaching experience, I have learned that every student learns differently. That is why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I take time to understand each learner, identify where they are struggling, and find the best way to help them improve.

I became a tutor because I genuinely enjoy seeing a student move from saying, “I don’t understand this,” to confidently solving a problem or explaining a concept on their own. For me, teaching is not just about completing a syllabus or preparing for an exam—it is about building understanding, confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking.

Whether you are preparing for KCSE, Cambridge, IB MYP, or simply want to strengthen your Mathematics or Biology skills, I will work with you patiently and consistently to help you reach your learning goals.

My lessons are interactive, supportive, and focused on your progress. I look forward to learning with you and helping you discover that Mathematics and Biology can be much easier and more interesting than you think!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to make Mathematics and Biology simple, practical, and engaging. I use a student-centred approach where I first identify the learner’s strengths, challenges, and learning goals, then tailor each lesson to their needs.

Rather than simply giving answers, I guide students through concepts step by step, using clear explanations, real-life examples, visual learning, interactive questions, and plenty of practice. For exam preparation, I focus on understanding concepts, answering exam-style questions, identifying common mistakes, and developing effective problem-solving techniques.

I can support learners following KCSE, Cambridge and IB MYP programmes, as well as students who simply want to strengthen their Mathematics or Biology foundation.

My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build confidence, curiosity, independent thinking, and a genuine understanding of what they are learning.

Lessons are conducted online in a friendly, patient, and interactive environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and participate actively.
