Hi — I’m Joel. I trained at Central Saint Martins (BA Fashion Design, Knitwear) and have worked across studio design, costume/prop, editorial and small-scale production. My work includes capsule collections for PAT MARKET (Japan), design at Fantastic Toiles (London), work for Robert Allsopp and Associates, and credits on projects with names like FKA twigs and Lady Gaga. I bring real-world processes into lessons so you learn what actually works for your own personal development. What I teach: - Knitwear techniques, pattern development and sampling - Pattern cutting and basic-to-intermediate garment construction - Quick upcycling and sustainable approaches for fashion students - Creative portfolio & interview prep (college and industry) - Conceptual workflows Teaching style: - Project-led, small achievable goals each session - Short focused blocks, clear next steps, and visual checklists - Gentle, honest feedback that builds confidence rather than crushes it - Online lessons available; flexible scheduling - In-person in Reading - In-person in London at your place - variable rates and travel expenses A typical lesson might include: - A short warm-up: reviewing previous work, discussing goals, or creative brainstorming - Step-by-step project work: guided hands-on practice in knitwear, pattern cutting, or small garment projects - Reflection & next steps: reviewing progress, highlighting strengths, and planning the next session to build momentum - By the end of each lesson, you’ll feel accomplished, confident, and equipped to continue learning independently. I offer a short trial lesson so we can set goals and make a simple plan that fits your pace. If you’d like, I can send you a sample 4-week plan for what you might learn after your trial lesson.
