About Musatwe

My name is Musatwe Simutowe — most students call me Musa. I am a FIDE Candidate Master (CM) and FIDE-certified Instructor (FI) with over 20 years of chess coaching experience, based in Dubai.

I am the founder of ChessPath Academy (est. 2004), where I have trained students ranging from complete beginners to national champions and international competitors. My students have won junior championships and gone on to represent their countries at chess Olympiads and African Championships.

I also have a unique connection to elite chess: my brother is GM Amon Simutowe, the first Grandmaster from sub-Saharan Africa — so chess excellence runs in the family, and I bring that environment of serious, high-level thinking to every lesson.

I have personally represented Zambia at the World Chess Olympiad (Baku 2016, Batumi 2018) and African Chess Championships, with a FIDE rating of 2149.

Whether you are a complete beginner, a parent looking to develop your child's focus and thinking skills, or a competitive player wanting to level up — I will give you a structured, personalised path to real improvement.

About the lesson

I offer online and in-person chess lessons in Dubai for kids (from age 4), teenagers, and adults at all levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or a competitive player, lessons are fully personalised and structured around your goals. I cover tactics, strategy, openings, and endgames. My students have won junior championships and represented their countries internationally. First lesson is free.

Perfect! so far I’m very much enjoying having lessons with Musa he’s been a tremendous coach so far focusing directly on my own personal issues and the game of chess and adjusting the lessons based on the level of fun and difficulty that you would like incorporated. Musa has shown great patience me and does not push me to finish a lesson. He’s also extremely encouraging and tries to make the lessons fun rather than just about chess. The one thing in particular I like about our lesson so far is that he understands that not everyone takes the game of chess very seriously and thus he also tries to make the lessons fun

Ali showed great enthusiasm and sharp tactical focus during our lesson. He did a fantastic job navigating tactics in the opening and setting up his opening repertoire. We also made solid progress covering core fundamentals in both Rook endgames and pawn endgames. To continue building on this momentum, focusing on patience in quiet positions and double, checking tactical safety before committing will help solidify his progress.
