About Slaven
With over 25 years of experience in competitive chess and a FIDE International Master (IM) title, I possess a knowledge of the game that I am happy about passing on to my students. I am also a certified FIDE Instructor (FI) with over 8 years of professional coaching experience. Throughout my career, I have successfully trained over 50+ students worldwide, ranging from absolute beginners to competitive players rated up to 2200 FIDE.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in a deeply personalized approach. I believe that truly understanding each student's unique thinking process is the key to uncovering their hidden weaknesses and creating an optimal development plan. While tournament success is important, my primary focus centers on mastering the learning process, building discipline, and maximizing daily effort, because I believe results naturally follow consistent, high-quality work.
I will assist you with building a solid opening repertoire tailored to your personal style, enhancing your tactical vision, improving calculation methods, and reducing blunders. Additionally, we will focus on strategy and positional play, making it much easier for you to formulate concrete middlegame plans and find effective ways to execute them, while continuously improving your endgame techniques.
Over the years, many of my students have made significant improvements and podium finishes in official tournaments.
