About Niamh
Hi, I am Niamh, an Engineering student currently studying at Swansea University.
I started tutoring GCSE maths when I was 16 during my A-Level studies. I quickly realised that helping other people understand maths and science was something I really enjoyed. Since then, I have continued working as a self-employed tutor and taken on some online tutoring.
One of the most important aspects of success in maths and science is a bit of confidence! So many of my past students have looked at a challenging question and immediately decide that they definitely can't solve it. I aim to help get the ball rolling and some idea flowing, maybe we can bounce a few ideas of each other.

I have nearly 5 years on both in-person and online tutoring experience, and have taken multiple training sessions through previous employer. I have tutored from ages 12-16, and older students who have no completed their GCSE maths.
I am a final year Chemical engineering student, on track to graduate with a 2:1 this summer. Engineering takes the theoretical side of mathematics and science and applies it to real life, something that has helped me further develop my understanding of the subjects and notice all the patterns and logic that underpin key concepts. I hope to extend this way of thinking to my students, making them resilient to problems and eager to fins a solution even if it takes a few different ideas.
I believe that students learn better when they are actively engaged in the learning process. To do this, I use interactive learning techniques such as quizzes, games, and simulations to keep students engaged and motivated. Every student has unique learning needs and preferences, so I tailor my teaching approach to suit each student's individual learning style. Personally I can only stay focused for an hour at a time, so I think this is the perfect length for a lesson.
