About Karla
Hi! I'm Karla, a first-year AUT student with a passion for English, Classical Studies, and helping others build confidence in their learning. I completed NCEA Level 3 English and Classical Studies and particularly enjoy analyzing texts, poems, exploring ideas, brainstorming essay and projects and making complex concepts easier to understand.
I know that every student learns differently, which is why I believe tutoring should be encouraging, supportive, and enjoyable. I love creating a calm, cozy environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and growing in confidence without the pressure often felt in the classroom.
I look forward to helping students achieve their goals and discover greater confidence in their abilities.

My goal in every lesson is to create a relaxed, fun, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and learning at their own pace. I believe everyone needs a bit of support and a friend to help guide them along their studies!
Rather than simply giving answers, I guide students through the learning and writing process. Lessons start from 45 minutes and focus on understanding essay structure, developing strong arguments, analyzing texts, brainstorming ideas, and building the confidence to tackle assessments independently.
I aim to tailor each lesson to the student's learning style and goals, whether they need help preparing for an upcoming assessment, want to strengthen their English skills, or are looking to deepen their understanding of Classical Studies through source analysis, essay writing, and historical interpretation. Although I am beginning my tutoring journey, I have a genuine passion for English, writing, and Classical Studies, and I enjoy helping students organize their ideas, think critically, and gain confidence in their own abilities.
My lessons are designed for Year 9–13 students, including those studying NCEA Levels 1–3 English and Classical Studies. Whether a student is aiming for higher grades or simply wants to feel more confident in class, I strive to make learning approachable, engaging, and rewarding.
