About Carrie
I never thought I would become an English teacher... Especially since I hardly ever did the reading when I was in high school. But, life has a sense of humor! I was a Spanish major in college who minored in English. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine where I ran cross country and track. I became a teacher because I wanted to coach, and coaching remains my passion. However, I have a knack for teaching writing and helping students create a structure to their essays that supports maximum expression (and leads to good grades too!). So, here I am! I'm ready to teach you my method to ensure that your first draft is good enough for the A!

The ONE thing that every great essay needs is a thesis statement that the writer believes in and can defend! However, most students get hung up on their thesis, or try to write the essay before their ideas are fully formed. Before we get started writing together, we'll talk it out! I'll extract a thesis statement from you that you can easily defend. We'll have a conversation that naturally supports the structure of your essay, and you'll leave our first session with the framework you need to, for lack of better term, "fill in the blanks" of your essay. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy! My method works for high school and college level essays.
