About Thomas

After graduating from college in 2016 with a BS in Bioengineering with a minor in mathematics, I went off to Thailand for a year to teach high school math and health in the heart of Bangkok. Since the school was international, I had the opportunity to work with kids from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I taught Algebra, Geometry, and Health, and focused my efforts on student-based learning, crafting projects and tying each topic into the students' everyday lives.

Some years later, I finished my master's in Data Science, got a job in the biotech industry as a manufacturing engineer, and then ultimately ended up as a software developer, which I absolutely love.

I have a passion for sharing knowledge with others and finally seeing the "lightbulb" turn on. Those "aha!" moments are what tutoring is all about. I've faced struggles in my education, so I can relate to people that may feel like they are falling behind. That's why I'm confident that I can help my students realize their potential.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to learn anything is to find a way to make it meaningful and enjoyable. Thus, I like to use activities and games in my lessons to help students engage with the material and find real-world, meaningful applications. I seek to show you why algebra and geometry aren't just boring subjects you are forced to endure, but exciting topics that expand your mind and allow you to better understand and engage with the world around you.

I'll break each lesson into bite-sized pieces to progressively build understanding through activities and games, and then use that knowledge to tackle "textbook" problems. I will also tailor lessons to your individual interests, whether that is football, tennis, graphic design, or even photography. Learning doesn't have to be a struggle, so let's make it easy.
