About Alexander
I am a fourth year computer science major at UC San Diego. I tutored programming languages and paradigms (lambda calculus and Haskell) at UC San Diego for two quarters, taking responsibilities such as tutoring, grading exams, and designing grading rubric. I’ve also completed software engineering internships at startups and small companies, where I gained practical experience writing production code and collaborating in real development environments.

I plan my lessons based on each student’s needs and goals. Whether a student wants to learn programming from scratch, catch up with class, or prepare for exams such as AP Computer Science A, I’ll create a study plan that matches their level and learning pace. I can teach core programming concepts and problem-solving skills, and I also cover fundamental data structures and algorithms, including arrays, linked lists, stacks/queues, trees, and graphs, along with how and when to use them. For students who want deeper understanding, I enjoy teaching theory as well. I’m happy to help with topics like introductory programming languages and paradigms, lambda calculus basics and basic Haskell concepts. I have experience programming in Python, Java, and C, and I’m willing to teach any topic I’m confident in. I can also teach in Chinese Mandarin.
