About Olive

My passion for French grew from an interest in language, culture, and expression, leading me to earn a B.A. in French Language followed by an M.A. in Francophone Linguistics. Over 8 years of teaching, I have guided students from beginners to advanced learners, helping them develop fluency, comprehension, and confidence. I approach teaching with patience and encouragement, creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable speaking and learning from mistakes. Lessons are adapted to individual goals, balancing accuracy with practical communication and cultural insight. Beyond teaching, I stay connected to French through literature, film, and linguistic study. Teaching French is rewarding because I see students gain confidence, independence, and the ability to connect meaningfully across cultures.

About the lesson

French lessons are most successful when learners actively engage with the language in meaningful contexts. My lessons focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, and conversational practice, helping students communicate naturally rather than rely on memorized phrases. I integrate cultural elements such as literature, media, and real-life scenarios to deepen understanding and motivation. Each lesson encourages participation, curiosity, and steady progress.

Beginner students focus on pronunciation, basic vocabulary, sentence formation, and everyday communication. Intermediate learners strengthen grammar accuracy, listening comprehension, reading fluency, and conversational confidence. Advanced students refine written expression, professional communication, advanced discussion skills, and literary interpretation. Lessons include guided conversation, structured exercises, and personalized feedback to support growth.

French instruction also promotes cultural awareness, adaptability, and communication confidence. Students learn to express ideas clearly and appreciate the cultural richness behind the language. My goal is to help learners feel comfortable using French in real-world situations while developing lasting language skills.
