About Tessa

My passion for French began with its elegance, rhythm, and cultural richness, and teaching it has allowed me to share this love with learners from many backgrounds. Over eight years of teaching, I’ve guided students at all levels, helping them develop strong communication skills while discovering the joy of exploring a new language. Watching learners gain confidence and connect with French culture is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I teach with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm, ensuring every student feels comfortable and motivated. My lessons balance structure with creativity, adapting to each learner’s style and pace. Whether teaching grammar, conversation, or pronunciation, I focus on making lessons engaging and achievable. I enjoy incorporating cultural stories, real-life scenarios, and interactive activities to keep learning dynamic and meaningful. Outside of teaching, I stay connected to French language and culture through reading, films, music, and ongoing study. French has enriched my life in countless ways, and sharing that enrichment is what inspires my teaching every day. Helping students grow into confident, independent speakers who appreciate both the language and the culture continues to be a meaningful and fulfilling part of my journey as an educator.

About the lesson

My French lessons are designed to make the language feel natural, intuitive, and enjoyable. I focus on helping students speak confidently by combining structured learning with interactive practice. Lessons emphasise pronunciation, vocabulary building, and practical sentence formation while also introducing the cultural elements that make French such a rich and expressive language. Each session encourages curiosity, active communication, and immersion through guided conversation and listening exercises. Beginners work on essential phrases, basic grammar, pronunciation, and everyday dialogue. Intermediate learners practise reading, writing, and speaking through structured exercises, role-plays, and short texts. Advanced students explore complex grammar, idiomatic expressions, formal communication, and culturally authentic resources like French films, podcasts, and articles. Assignments include translation, writing exercises, oral practice, and comprehension tasks tailored to each learner’s goals. French lessons aim to help students grow into confident speakers who can use the language in real-world situations. Many of my learners have used their skills for travel, academic exams, internships, and cultural exchange programmes. Beyond vocabulary and grammar, lessons build cultural awareness, communication skills, and the ability to express ideas with clarity and confidence. My goal is to help students not only learn French but also connect with its culture, perspectives, and beauty in meaningful and lasting ways.
