I’m Florent Tarrieux, a native French speaker with a passion for language, storytelling, and cultural exchange. With a background in art direction and screenwriting, I bring a creative and insightful approach to teaching French.

I’ve worked across film, theater, and animation, which has deepened my appreciation for the subtleties of the French language and its cultural expressions. I also spent several years living and working in the French countryside, where I gained firsthand knowledge of traditional farming culture and gastronomy—an experience that complements my understanding of both rural and urban French life.

I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely committed to helping each student build confidence and achieve their personal goals. Whether you're learning for travel, work, or personal enrichment, I’ll be happy to guide you on your journey through the French language.

I offer French classes for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners. My approach focuses on developing all four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Each lesson is designed to be engaging, practical, and adapted to your personal goals.

My Teaching Method
I use the classics of French culture—literature, cinema, music—as a foundation to explore grammar, conjugation, and vocabulary in a natural, immersive way. This cultural lens helps make the language come alive while deepening your understanding of its nuances.

Lesson Plan
A typical lesson includes:
- short conversation to warm up and practice speaking listening or reading exercise based on an excerpt from a film, book, or song
- grammar/conjugation focus drawn from the material
- brief written or creative task (optional depending on your goals) Each class can be adapted to emphasize specific areas, especially vocabulary relevant to your interests or professional needs.

I reached out to Florent regarding Ableton Live, and he was extremely knowledgeable and felt very current with the program and its utility. Each lesson was very easy to grasp as he was pretty much very attentive in what i'm actually retaining, and that each lesson was not too dense. As someone who is not so tech-friendly, he made it very easy to learn a computer program from scratch. Not only that, he is super patient and hilarious along the way.
