About Ian

My specialization in general is in technical writing, particularly academic philosophical writing. I have studied degree programs in English, Spanish, and French contexts, which has pushed my fluency in each to a technical level beyond an everyday usage of language. Anyone looking for a business or formal level of proficiency would definitely benefit from my tutoring approach.

About the lesson

I can offer conversational classes as well, though my specialization is in reading and writing, particularly for academic, business, or even literary language styles. This entails activities in session and written assignments outside of class that will correct quickly at the beginning of sessions. We take turns reading together and I stop to ask if you understand certain transition words/phrases, or to correct for pronunciation. For conversation based learning, I engage personal topics and use short videos of native speakers conversing to model typical phrases used in everyday small-talk.

Ian has tutored me online for over a year now and I have noticed many of my usual mistakes finally disappear in Spanish. I am now writing well enough to apply to university in Spain which was my initial goal. Definitely recommend if you are looking to get to a formal level.
