About Jessica

I have lived in France for more than three years and have recently passed the DALF with a C2 result. But I can not only teach you the basics of the beautiful French language, I can also tell you a bit about French culture and history.

About the lesson

Whether you want to start from zero or already have some knowledge, I can help you get over the fear of making mistakes. Planning a trip to Quebec or France? Let me know and we can prepare you for easy conversations and cultural knowledge. Please note that I only teach beginner to early intermediate levels (A1 to A2/B1).

Jessica is a patient and experienced language teacher. She was very interested in working at my level and provided gentle but consistent feedback.

One thing she really did well was provide resources and suggestions for practice and continued learning outside of our session, which I think is key to progress.

I struggled with pronunciation and she was kind to teach me the right way of pronouncing the words. Also she helped understand the grammar and taught me the correct way of making good sentences. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I have always loved languages - my own (German) and foreign languages. When I was 11 years old, I started to learn English, when I was 13 I started French and discovered that it comes easily to me. Additionally, I have lived several years in countries that are anglo- and francophone, respectively. As I know that speaking a language can be intimidating and frustrating, I want to take the pressure off and inject the fun that I associate with it.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
Speaking a foreign language is about much more than vocabulary and grammar; it is about culture and a way to look at the world. It can broaden our perspective on how things can be described or perceived and it can ground us when we understand what an incredible tool languages are.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
Tutoring is very exciting as it gives me the opportunity to work one-on-one with a person and I can adjust my teaching to that person's level, needs, and interests. For example, if you want to travel you will need different knowledge than if you are studying to reach a C1 level. Maybe you have already studied some with a free program and would like to use that knowledge to move to the next difficulty. I will always try and accommodate your specific situation - which makes me a superprof.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
I am inspired by the people who taught me - with patience, love, and an eye for common mistakes.
What are your keys to success? 
My keys to success are patience, love for what I am doing and an eye for common mistakes, but also a mix of different media (written text, spoken words, music, vocabulary study, systematic grammar explanations, regular revisions and small amounts of homework, if possible).
