I had regular contact with Kat Thompson between 2023 and 2024 when her daughter was a pupil of mine. Kat often volunteered to help on class trips including trips to the library and whole day trips off site. When visiting the library, she supervised the children crossing the road and then while in the library. She interacted with the children in a kind and friendly manner when helping them to select books they might like to read. During whole day off site visits, Kat was responsible for a small group of children. She followed procedures and guidance outlined in the school risk assessment around safeguarding and health and safety. When supporting the children to complete their tasks, Kat was friendly and approachable. Over the course of the day, she built good relationships with the children and encouraged them to complete their tasks to the best of their ability. This included exploring the area, finding the answers to the questions and being creative. I found Kat to be equally supportive as a parent throughout her daughter's time at our school. Similar to her approach towards supporting the children on visits, Kat was incredibly supportive and encouraging as a parent who went above and beyond to provide her child with many learning opportunities outside of school and encouraged her child to pursue their passions and interests.

Kat is a family friend of over 5 years. She is kind, patient and intelligent and great with all ages of children from toddlers to teens, as well as adults. She explains things well, taking into account the person's existing knowledge, age and background. 100% trustworthy and dedicated.
