About Mark
I am an early-retired Reader in Politics at Swansea University (now Honorary researcher) with a 1st class degree and a doctorate in politics from Oxford University. I have taught at A-level at various times since 1988 and at university level (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral) at Oxford and Swansea since 1989. I have taught countless students (thousands, if you count lecture audiences as well as tutorials!). I teach - (and have lots of experience ) - one-to-one, small group and large lecture audiences. Friendly and challenging: each session is tailored to the student(s), helping them to think critically and constructively about both the questions they are given and the answers they may give (Thinking Skills are to the fore in my approach: useful, for example, for the TSA University entrance exams!). I help students to think and research for themselves (no 'spoon-feeding'!), always doing what I can to bring out not just the 'minimum to pass' but the best they can achieve. This is the ethos I learned at Oxford and have passed on to all my students since.
