About Heidy

Hola, I'm Heidy, I am a native Spanish teacher who is also graduated in psychology. Since 2018, when I lived in the UK, I discovered my passion for teaching Spanish. What started as a fun side project has turned into my full-time career, and over the past 6 years, I've helped countless students improve their Spanish skills, whether for daily communication, travel, or work. As a teacher, I’m known for my cheerful, supportive, and approachable style. I believe that learning should be both fun and effective, and I tailor my lessons to meet each student's unique goals and needs. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your advanced skills, I’m here to help you every step of the way. Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about art, writing, and animals (especially cats!). I love the calmness of nature and often find inspiration in quiet places. Music is also a big part of my life, with my Latin roots shining through whenever there's a chance to enjoy some good Dominican tunes. What You Can Expect: - Customised Learning Plan: I'll create a personalised roadmap for your learning journey, designed to meet your individual goals while ensuring a steady and enjoyable progress at your own pace. - Practical Focus: My lessons emphasise real-world communication. You’ll gain confidence in speaking Spanish and understand native speakers (like me!) more easily, all while building a solid foundation in grammar. - Engaging Materials: Over the past 6 years, I’ve developed and refined a wealth of teaching materials which I am constantly updating. These resources are tailored to be engaging, informative, and relevant to your daily life and interests. -Flexibility: I always do all I can to adapt to my student's needs in terms of schedules. That's why there are no excuses even if you're a very busy person! My Approach as a language coach: I have a background in Psychology, which means that part of my job as a teacher is also being a language coach. I help my students to improve their language skills—not just through grammar and vocabulary, but by building confidence, fluency, and real-world communication abilities. Unlike traditional language teachers, coaches focus more on personal goals, mindset, and practical use of the language. What a language coach typically does: -Tailors sessions to personal needs: Whether someone wants to speak confidently in meetings, prepare for interviews, or navigate daily life in a new country, a coach adapts to those goals. -Focuses on communication, not perfection: They help learners express themselves naturally, even if their grammar isn’t flawless. -Builds emotional confidence: Many people struggle with fear or shame around speaking a second language. Coaches work through those blocks. -Uses real-life materials: Instead of textbooks, they might use podcasts, articles, or role-play scenarios relevant to the learner’s life. -Supports long-term growth: They often help with motivation, habit-building, and self-reflection, acting almost like a mentor. I have been studying with Heidy for nearly three years by now. She always is ready to adjust to the students needs, can provide a deep insight into understanding the language (and sometimes mentality-which helps as well) and we laugh a lot during the sessions - which I like a lot. We are serious in the study process - but I want to have some fun as well - otherwise it would become boring for me. Her booking system is flexibel and I take the weekly appointment as a steady date to stay tuned on my studies - continuously improving!
