About Alaia
Hi! My name is Alaia I am currently a 4th Year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Nottingham working within the Automotive Industry. Having studied a versatile degree I am passionate about mathematics, chemistry and applied physics. As this degree provides a diverse skill set applicable to pharamaceutical to energy and food, this shows how science can be applied to everyday uses making learning more exciting!
Focusing on problem-solving I hope to excel students STEM knowledge by making learning more relevant to their own everyday practicalities. Having been a student I am empathetic towards the stresses that are inevitable when learning lots of new material.
Outside of university, I have worked with children charity organisations by co-ordinating activities such as football, tennis and chess clubs. Also, very passionate about martial arts particularly Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

My lessons will first start by building a rapport with the student then review pre-existing learning and start to introduce new concepts in a step-by-step format. Checking students understanding by asking questions and providing full support to fill in any weaker areas of knowledge. Also, propelling students into the right direction giving clear, detailed feedback. Developing each students knowledge with exam technique is particularly important. Using a logical step by step format so each student is equipped with the confidence to tackle each question!
