About Kate
I used to find it confusing, abstract, and honestly quite boring. It wasn’t until I had a teacher who explained things in a way that actually made sense to me. I started to understand, then I started to enjoy it, and eventually I found myself actually doing a chemistry degree at university. That shift changed everything for me, and it’s exactly why I want to teach now. I know what it feels like to sit in a class and think “I just don’t get it”, and I also know how good it feels when someone finally explains it in a way that lands. I’m not here to prove how much I know — I’m here to be the teacher I wish I’d had earlier, and to help my students find their own way into chemistry, at their own pace. I don't do fake, and I don't teach like a textbook. I am genuinely interested in helping you find your own way into chemistry — whether you love it yet or not.

I know both WJEC and OCR exam boards. My goal is to help you understand chemistry, not just memorise it. I use analogies, drawings (especially for organic mechanisms), real-life examples, and past-paper questions to show you how to apply knowledge. Every student is different – in our first session, I do a short diagnostic test and ask what you find hardest, then we build a plan around that.
A typical lesson lasts one hour: the first half explains a key concept, and the second half is practice with exam-style questions. You can also bring your own schoolwork – I always prioritise what you need most.
My lessons are for GCSE and A-Level students (ages 14–18) who want to build confidence, improve grades, or stop hating chemistry.
