About Elisha

I’m Elisha, a friendly and enthusiastic GCSE English Literature tutor with a strong academic background allowing me to help GCSE students feel confident with texts and essays.

I achieved a Grade 7 (A) in GCSE English Literature and a B at A-Level, went on to study Criminology at the University of Liverpool (Russell Group), and I’m now a Social Science Research Master’s student at Loughborough University. This journey means I know exactly what strong analytical writing looks like at every level.

In my lessons, I break down complex ideas into simple steps, then help students build them back up into clear, high-mark answers. I’m especially good at essay planning, paragraph structure and teaching students how to analyse quotations in line with the chosen exam boards marking scheme to ensure success.

My style is calm, supportive and organised. I want my students to enjoy lessons and know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how it will help them in the exam.

About my lessons

Lesson length: 1-hour online sessions, focused and structured around exam skills.

Who I teach: GCSE English Literature students (Year 9–11), needing confidence and clarity.

My teaching style: Calm, encouraging and clear – I break down complex ideas into simple steps, then build them back up into strong exam answers.

What we do in lessons:

Unpack set texts (themes, characters, key quotes) in an easy-to-understand way

Practise planning and writing exam-style paragraphs and full essays

Learn how to analyse language, structure and context using the right terminology

Go through past questions and model answers to see what examiners want

My background: Grade 7 (A) in GCSE English Literature and Grade B at A-Level; Criminology BA from the University of Liverpool (Russell Group) and currently a Social Science Research Master’s student at Loughborough University – so I am very strong in essay writing, critical reading and argument structure.

What makes my lessons different: I don’t just explain the text – I show students exactly how to turn their ideas into clear, high-mark essays, with sentence starters, paragraph frames and personalised feedback they can use in every exam question.
