About Katie
Hello! I am an Aerospace Engineer currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Washington in Mechanical Engineering. I did my undergraduate studies at Georgia Tech and graduated with highest honors. I have specialized in air-breathing propulsion and engine modeling. I decided to pursue my PhD after working at Boeing, General Electric, Aerojet Rocketdyne, and Hermeus. While these positions provided me with valuable hands-on engineering experience, I realized my passion is in education. I have always enjoyed my past freelance tutoring experiences, so I am continuing to do this more formally.

I base lesson plans on an initial assessment of your understanding of the subject (not a test - a conversation). I will identify where I see areas of improvement and tailor our practice problems accordingly. After the short assessment, I like to begin with a brief overview of core concepts and talk through practice questions together, checking your understanding along the way. In between our sessions I can provide practice problems and solutions for you to practice independently, if desired. I can absolutely tailor to your learning style as well if this does not seem like a good structure for you. I make an extra effort to use real-world examples with students rather than just providing an abstract concept and set of equations. I am most experienced in teaching Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus I, and high-school level physics. My B.S. is in Aerospace Engineering, and I specialized in air-breathing propulsion and engine/fluid modeling. Please inquire for specific subjects within aerospace and we can see if I am a good fit.
