About Garrison

Garrison Hunt is a New York-based professional actor and vocalist with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Nazareth College. Known for his rich baritone/tenor voice and vibrant stage presence, Garrison has built a career embracing comedic, character, and larger-than-life roles in both classic and contemporary musical theatre. His credits include standout performances as Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, as well as roles in productions such as Guys and Dolls and Elf the Musical and many more! He has also appeared in new works, including stage readings of Convicted Again, and has graced cabaret stages such as 54 Below and Broadway Sessions in New York City.

About the lesson

First Singing Lesson (1 Hour – Smooth Bullet Flow)

Quick intro and conversation
-Ask what music they like and if they’ve sung before
-Keep it relaxed so they feel comfortable and not judged

Warm Ups
-Ease into a warm-up without over-explaining
-Light stretching + simple breathing
-Lip trills, humming, easy scales as well as other exercises

Give a evaluation song
-4 lines to see how fast they pick up music

Choose a song
-Have them sing a song they already know
-Let them go through it without interrupting
-Observe pitch, tone, tension, confidence

Introduce singing concepts
-Breath supports the sound
-Don’t push—let the air do the work
-Stay relaxed (jaw, shoulders, body)
(Demonstrate instead of over-explaining)
-Work on a songs together giving repertoire

Conclusion
-Talk about there learning style
-Explain what's homework for next lesson
-What do they do well!
-When is next lesson?

Perfect! He listens and is very complimentary about one’s ability. He was pleasant and gave me the tools that I needed to accomplish my voice goals. And his voice was beautiful and easy to sing along with . The warm-up audios he made for me were very helpful because they were tailored for my voice needs. I still use them. I can only highly recommend Garrison.

I also needed help with audition prep, and despite the fact that they are last minute, he is able to squeeze in a session and really help me understand the material and calm my nerves.
