About Joya

I am currently a university student currently studying medicine. I studied the International Bacchalaureate instead of a-levels, which is an internationally accepted diploma. I had Biology, Chemistry and Psychology as my Higher Level subjects, along with Maths, English and Swedish as my Standard level subjects, and I achieved a score of 40. I also attained a 9 in GCSE maths and triple sciences. I previously tutored throughout secondary school, in subjects like maths, English and sciences, and have experience in teaching a variety of ages between 10-16.

I also have experience in offering high quality tutoring sessions for students who wish to prepare for their exams, whether it be IB, a-levels or GCSE.

About the lesson

I offer high quality tutoring sessions for students who wish to prepare for their IB exams.

My aim is to help my students to improve their learning methods which will in turn help maximise their understanding. This will of course vary from person to person and therefore I am flexible with adjusting and tailoring my study plans to suit the needs of my pupils.

I try to emphasise the use of research-based learning techniques like active recall and interleaved practice, along with the pupils personal learning style, so that they are comfortable and engaged during sessions.

I am constantly up to date with new teaching ideologies and like to ensure I incorporate this in my own learning as a student, so that I can assess them personally and bring them to my tutoring lessons in order to maximise the learning of my students, in any subjects they prefer.

Before every lesson, a MS Teams link will be sent via Superprof/Whatsapp/e-mail, for the student to join when it is time for the lesson. I begin by sharing my screen, so that everything I draw/write can be seen on the student's screen too. My lessons aim to be very interactive, so I do ask students to keep their microphones switched on to answer any questions I may ask. At the end of every lesson, I ask them if they have any questions, or anything they want me to go over again. I also offer to send the notes we make in class to the student, so that they can look over them in their own time too.
