About Kate
I am a middle-aged professional with a wealth of experience behind me. I started off training to be a photographer with a three-year college course and a long apprenticeship.
From there I set up my own business in fashion still life and had many clients both in editorial and promotion. The work involved significant responsibility handling budgets, pre and post production, concept ideas, art direction etc. I was also an employer of freelance assistants who I helped to learn about the industry.
Sadly my industry collapsed with the digital revolution and I decided to return to education at Central Saint Martins to study ceramic design. This was followed by an MA and I found I had a new home in the art world.
I received a number of commissions including an installation and family art day at the British Museum, a foyer public engagement day at Ceramic Art London, an installation at the Harris Museum. Each of these events required careful planning, creative thought and consideration of health and safety.
I have also created a body of work in ice sculpture to respond to the climate crisis and have carried out many installations in public with the work.
You will find me to be reliable, responsible, thoughtful and creative. I will take your art journey seriously.

I see all teaching as collaborative.
Together we will explore what subject matters interest you along with materiality and we will devise a structured plan to help you meet your goals.
It may be you want to pass an exam, prepare for college application, gain confidence in yourself and/or a given material or simply to explore a new subject.
The art world is a brilliant place to be- it caters for everybody, the challenge is to find which part of it you would like to explore and I can help you to do that.
These are my qualifications- HND and PQE in photography, HND (at Central Saint Martins) and an MA in ceramics (UCLAN). I have done many life drawing courses.
Additionally I worked as a professional photographer in fashion for twenty-five years and have wide experience.
I teach by listening to what you are interested in and respond with structured learning modules. Suitable for 12-18 age group.
Lessons typically last 50 minutes.
