About Cassidy
For three years during high school, I taught creative coding with JavaScript at the school's TECH Club. Creative coding is coding to produce (most often) visual, artistic outputs. This requires a solid understanding of a variety of math subjects, including trigonometry, geometry, some calculus, vectors, and some statistics. I taught, over the course of those years, around 20 different students. At the same time, I was also consistently tutoring two students in math independently. I make an effort to be punctual, consistent, reliable, and easy to reach. I often helped with other coding-related problems and questions from my students both at and outside of TECH Club.

In school, a consistent issue I ran into among myself and my peers was that teaching was treated as a one-size-fits-all solution. One teacher to about 20 students. I take the first few sessions to get a sense of how a student learns, what they already know, and what needs to be taught. I often tie each session to a specific fundamental part of the larger subject we're covering over time. From there, I use a process of demonstration, guided practice, and solo practice, so that they can see how something is done, learn how to do it themselves, and then solidify that understanding afterwards. I also try whenever possible to include reference to subjects beyond the class, as a means of preparation, and so students may understand the larger concepts at play behind why the things they are learning exist the way they do.
