Copies of the literary text for each student

Reading comprehension questions
Note-taking materials
Teaching Method and Techniques:

Socratic Method: Encourage students to actively participate in discussions by asking open-ended questions and prompting critical thinking.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Introduction (5 minutes)

Greet the students and briefly discuss the importance of literary analysis.
Explain the objectives for the session and what students will accomplish.

Pre-Reading Activity (10 minutes)
Engage students in a brief discussion about the selected literary text.
Activate prior knowledge by asking students if they are familiar with any related themes or literary devices.
Encourage students to share their expectations or initial thoughts about the text.
Close Reading (20 minutes)

Distribute copies of the literary text to each student.
Instruct students to read the text silently, paying attention to details, language use, and overall meaning.
Encourage students to underline or highlight important sections and unfamiliar vocabulary.
Model close reading by reading a section aloud and thinking aloud about the analysis process.
After individual reading, facilitate a class discussion to share observations, interpretations, and questions.
Analysis and Interpretation (15 minutes)

Write key themes or literary devices on the whiteboard or chart paper based on the class discussion.
Divide students into small groups and assign each group a specific theme or device to focus on.
In their groups, students should reread the text, identifying examples of the assigned theme or device.
Guide students to analyze the significance and impact of these examples in the text.
Encourage students to support their interpretations with evidence from the text.
Closure (10 minutes)

Bring the class back together and ask each group to share their findings.
Facilitate a final discussion, allowing students to reflect on the connections between the themes or devices and the overall meaning of the text.
Summarize the main points discussed and emphasize the development of critical thinking skills.
Assign reading comprehension questions related to the text as homework for further practice.
