About Madison
I am a recent graduate of Colby College with a degree in Biochemistry and a strong background in mathematics and science. During college, I worked as a Learning Assistant for introductory mathematics courses, where I helped students work through challenging concepts and develop stronger problem-solving skills. I really enjoyed helping students become more confident in math and seeing concepts begin to click. I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and working through mistakes.

For lessons, I like to use a combination of guided practice, practice problems, and review . I first like to know what specific topics the student is struggling with by receiving a previous worksheet or test, then breaking down the struggles into more manageable smaller steps. Rather than simply explaining concepts, I like to always confirm a topic has been understood when the student can reason through it back to me. I also like to use practice problems a lot for math to help reinforce and identify areas that need review. I also adjust my teaching plan based on how the student finds they learn the best!
