About Millie
I am a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, looking to share my knowledge and inspire my students with the far-reaching benefits of musical education. I completed my undergraduate Musicology degree from the University of Bristol before going on to specialise in Clarinet performance at the Royal Academy of Music. I then moved to Paris and taught English as a foreign language whilst studying under a Professor at the Conservatoire. Throughout my studies I have always been fortunate to have a large cohort of students to teach. It has consistently inspired my playing as much as it has inspired my pupils. I find it incredibly fulfilling to be able to pass on the joy of music to others and it gives me great satisfaction to see other people achieve their goals and enjoy a whole world of music.

I craft each lesson to facilitate the most effective learning for each individual. I use a goal-orientated approach to structure my lesson plans. In our first lesson, we will discuss what you would like to achieve through your lessons. This can be a specific exam mark or a more generalised increase in knowledge or skill. After discussing your broader goals, I then create a structure of 'micro-goals' for each lesson. This results in my pupils achieving their desired outcome because I am constantly keeping an eye on their general progress by personalising each and every lesson. The length of my lessons is decided between each pupil and myself, based on attention-level and preference. I use a variety of approaches to keep my classes fun, engaging and inspiring, too. I like to zoom in on the detail of the topic to teach the essential facts and then give great context in a relatable way to the age of my pupil. I've found this gives a really high success rate in recollection of the details necessary. My students have ranged from 7-70 year olds. Within that age range I have taught complete beginners extending to Conservatoire entry students on the Clarinet. I have tutored GCSE and A-level students with music history and music theory. I have also taught younger pupils and adult beginners the piano, recorder and singing. All are welcome!
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Millie is an exceptional musician whose ability to transfer her skill set to her pupils is second to none. She has a brilliant success rate with her pupils. I believe this is because she cares so much about each individual that she is one of the most dedicated teachers I know. She is patient with beginners and also has the ability to inspire whatever standard of pupil is in front of her.
