About Emily
I have spent a lot of my life in museums - and work in one now! Before I worked in a museum, I was a teacher. I love to find fun and encourage curiosity in myself and others. I find inspiration, magic, and beauty just walking around Philadelphia, and enjoy sharing my love of art more than anything else. Some of my favorite artists are Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly, and John Singer Sargent.

Your lessons can be focused on drawing assignments or learning to express yourself on your own terms! We can start with the basics, like proportion, shading techniques, and what tools work best, and along the way we will develop your creative ideas and work together on ways to make drawing exciting and fun. I love to help my students learn the little things that can make transformative changes in their drawings. I can also reference art history in my lessons, and help my students learn from artists that have come before them.
I bring enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine love of art to my lessons. I remember the excitement I felt when I became more comfortable and confident while drawing, and look forward to helping my students feel the same way. My lessons are for all ages, and I can cater to beginners or intermediate aspiring artists, or even students that just want to get through an art class unscathed!
