About Paul

Hello! I would love to be your tutor! I am an incoming doctoral student of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. In May, I am graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. I also will graduate with a minor in Portuguese and EU studies along with a certificate in International Relations.

I have three years of tutoring experience that I gained during my time as President of National Honor Society of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. During these tutoring sessions, I chose to work with the students that had the most difficulty completing their assignments. Working with the students that had the most challenges, I demonstrated my ability to be gentle and work with students until they achieve their potential.

As the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Florida's International Review, I worked with top undergraduate students in the Political Science Department to develop high quality, academic articles on pressing global issues. Through our revision process, I communicated, at length, with authors, who submitted their manuscripts for review, to improve their paper.

Having benefited from being tutored myself in elementary school, I am very passionate about the benefits of one-on-one tutoring. All students possess the innate ability to excel in their studies. While some need more individual attention than others, I find that investing in yourself and your education is one of the most rewarding acts you can do for yourself. As an aspiring Professor of Political Science, I know the impact that one-on-one attention plays in a student's intellectual development. As a scholar, I am dedicating my life to serving the community through teaching and helping to produce the next generation of America's educated leaders. I love working with students one-on-one and will dedicate myself to helping you achieve your fullest academic potential.

As a scholar entering doctoral studies in Political Science, I have developed skills to become a critical reader and analytical writer. Having taken Advanced Placement English language and Advanced Placement English Literature classes and earned the highest grade, a "5", on both exams, I am familiar with the skills needed to perform well on those exams. Subsequently, I scored in the 98th percentile in both the reading and writing sections on the SAT. Given my admission to the University of Pennsylvania for doctoral studies in Political Science, I have also taken the GRE and scored in the 96th and 99th percentile of the verbal and writing sections, respectively. My standardized test scores and my familiarity with these test demonstrates my expertise with these subjects.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I am very interested in clarifying misconceptions that students have about a subject. Thus, one of my most favorite activities in tutoring involves going over questions that students have answered incorrectly. Additionally, I love to serve as a resource for knowledge that is best acquired through repetition. I can be a great resource for learning vocabulary together for the GRE or SAT.
