About Olivia

Hi there! My name is Olivia I am 18 years old, an A student graduate from DHSG and eager to help struggling students with a course I thoroughly enjoyed. I have great insight and knowledge into this course with extensive notes and revision resources at my disposal. Since only recently taking this course and have experienced exams from a student's point of view, I have a refreshing approach and insider tips for examination procedure. I understand that there will be a set curriculum and certain criteria for students to become aware of to achieve top band answers but insightful and thought-provoking essays is what will achieve A* answers because it translates that the student has a deeper understanding, I will deliver both. I also offer some reassurance for everyone stressed about the exam setting, I have sat many exams before so I know all the symptoms of anxiety and their impact on results. Some students simply forget all they have learned in a panic, others may suffer with anxiety attacks or have difficulty focusing. I feel equipped to guide you through those scenarios which we all face as we will work through any challenges via timed writes, closed book essays and assessments in exam conditions together.

About the lesson

These 50-minute sessions will be for A level students aged 16 and above. I feel I am qualified, partly because I am extremely familiar with the material since I took my exams only a few months ago and because I achieved an A grade, aspiring to study English Literature at university. My lessons would start with exam technique as this is what is most complex and hardest to master. The exam technique for both units will be very similar, unlike the content which will be what I follow with. This will entail relevant context, critic quotes, key terminology and scaffolded answers all hitting the essential AOs for an A* answer (AO1/AO2/AO3/AO4/AO5). Amongst running through the Writer's Intentions we will do practice questions, how to note-take effectively, and revision techniques (with additional copies of the required books if not already obtained). I will review your work alongside your current grades and with that we will match my approach with your individual circumstance to enable big improvements in a short period of time. I work online, but we can meet in person at an allocated time and location if need be.
