About Annalise
I am a graduate student working on a degree in english literature. I received my bachelor's degree Summa Cum Laude in 2018 with a major in english literature and a minor in writing. I spent the last year teaching english in South Korea.

I have a laid back approach to teaching that focuses on implementing and utilizing knowledge while encouraging independent thought and creativity. I believe in asking a lot of questions, supporting analytical thought, cultivating critical thinking and applying these skills, not only to the material or assignment at hand, but to life in general. Literature is an especially great vessel through which to explore relevant themes such as gender, race and power. I love to dig into these concepts and interrogate characters and narratives. Such concepts foster important discussions. They also pave an important pathway to guiding students on how to most effectively express their ideas in writing. I really believe in letting students guide the lesson--tell me what your goals and needs are, and I will establish a plan from there! Communicate with me about what's working for you and what isn't and I'll do my best to adapt. I'm willing to work with middle-schoolers, high-schoolers and college students.
