About Althea
Teaching music for 8 years has allowed me to refine my instruction across diverse genres from Hendrix to Mayer while grounding every student in solid technique. My NYU Steinhardt degree in Music Technology informs how I break down complex concepts like scales and modes or ear training for my pupils. I have guided many students through power chords and improvisation while ensuring they understand the theoretical foundation of their favorite songs.
My background as a metal specialist who loves sweep picking and drop tunings helps me explain the technical mechanics of guitar playing clearly. I am a focused teacher who gets results through consistent practice.

Good guitar playing stems from the ability to connect basic music theory directly to the songs you enjoy listening to daily. I help players navigate fretboard geography while building the hand strength required for advanced techniques like tapping or rapid soloing.
Lessons integrate sheet music reading with ear training to ensure a well-rounded skill set for every musician. My 8 years of studio work in Seattle shape how I conduct these 9 minute focus sessions on technique and performance. One unique feature of my instruction is a monthly recorded review of progress for every student. Technical clarity remains my primary goal for every player.
