About Elaine

I graduated in 2023 from the BA actor musician course at the Guildford School of Acting. The piano is the first instrument I learnt, beginning at the age of 6. Since then I have explored various styles of music, from baroque and classical pieces to modern musical theatre. I have previously taught piano to children aged 5-11 as well as adult beginners, and I have experience teaching academic music to year 2 children as well as working with year 6 children on other subjects. I have had pupils previously take ABRSM grade 1, 3 and 5 exams under my supervision. I also love learning lots of other instruments, including clarinet, flute, saxophone, and accordion!

About the lesson

My lesson structure is more suited to beginners and/or younger learners. I begin by establishing a necessary understanding of written music with the student while understanding each individual's aims and music tastes, which allows me to tailor each lesson to the student's personal goals. I ensure that lessons comprise of sufficient technique work such as scales to help improve the student without compromising the enjoyment of the lesson overall. I hope that this allows students to be truly passionate about music! Due to COVID and my being away at university I am also able to teach online, however I am confident that via Zoom I am able to communicate and observe technique effectively and provide a fun and informative lesson!

please note that, as a professional actor, my availability may be limited at times- for example this Christmas I will begin rehearsals for a show around the end of October, and will not be available again until the start of January. My lower prices reflect the limits of my availability, but I will always strive to prioritise my students where possible!
