About Max
I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years and have tried many styles and genres starting from acoustic to electric to flamenco. My guitar playing developed to higher levels when I found accredited teachers who push and inspire me to practice effectively. I recently graduated UCLA with a degree in Anthropology, and took music and ethnomusicology classes which inspired my musical perspective. I first started teaching my 3 younger siblings music, and taught many beginner college students guitar.

I cover fundamental techniques such as hand posture and strumming techniques to avoid injury and pain. I always recommend students to learn theory and reading music, but I realize it’s not necessary for everyone. A typical lesson may include some basic music theory, along with learning a song phrase by phrase that a student is interested in. I can give suggestions for parts of songs students struggle with and other learning strategies.
