About Max

I am an experienced guitarist, singer and classical pianist. I have played music since I was five years old with more than 12 of these years being with a guitar.

I grew up playing fingerpicking guitar before moving into jazz and rock. I have played in many bands, sung in many choirs and performed solo piano at competitions in New Zealand.

I am currently finishing my bachelors in medicine and surgery whilst living here in Christchurch. I still play and write lots of music on the side and would love to meet anyone interested in getting into or improving on their own music.

Whether you are interested in learning to read music, understanding musical theory, learning to improvise or simply learning that one song you have always wanted to play I am here to help! Come give it a go, first lesson is free!

About the lesson

I am an easy going guitar teacher who knows the importance of laying a good foundation in technique and musical theory. My lessons are typically 30 minutes - 1 hour long depending on how much you want to learn! :) First/trial lesson is always free!

I want my students to have fun and will tailor lessons to your own personal goals and interests.

No matter your age I am here to help anyone wanting to learn the guitar or get to that next level in their playing.

I also have a background as a classical pianist and I may explain musical concepts on the piano to make things easier for you to understand! If this prompts you into wanting to learn the piano too... I'm sure we can arrange something!
