About Rebecca
I graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in May 2021, and plan to attend Graduate School for a PhD in Astronomy/Astrophysics. I have 5+ years of tutoring experience at the undergraduate level.
Due to a visual processing disorder I discovered partway through my undergraduate career, I found mathematics and physics particularly difficult growing up - they are hard subjects! I have spent more than my fair share of time working with tutors to learn myself and because of this, I feel I have a unique perspective on how to adapt my teaching to match the learning style of different individuals. I am familiar with many ways of explaining things because I have heard them all myself when I was learning!
The biggest thing I hope students take away from any tutoring session with me is that they know more than they think they do, and that with persistence anything is possible. I hope to not only teach subject matter, but also study techniques and learning strategies that will help students to grow more confident in their own abilities in these subjects.

I strive to promote intuitive learning by adapting my teaching style to the needs of my students. In general, I cater to High School and Undergraduate - level students.
A typical lesson plan could include working through homework sets and practice problems, sharing tips and tricks for studying and brief, targeted lectures to supplement traditional classroom learning. My goals are to facilitate a comfortable learning environment, create space for clarification, and allow for the use of several methods to approach a problem. I am a big believer in finding the method that works for each individual wherever possible, instead of simply following a rigid path to the answer.
School hasn't always been easy for me, and I found what really helped in the long run was having people who slowed down, met me where I was, and showed persistence and patience in helping me solidify my understanding. Now I do my best to do the same for others.
My teaching philosophy is this: you (the student) know more than you think you do. Let's work through this together.
