About Levins

I have had a great interest in teaching since I first completed work experience at my local high school during my college studies. The time I spent shadowing the staff within the PE department confirmed my interest in teaching as I felt truly inspired by the passion, energy, and enthusiasm each teacher continually displayed in their engagement with pupils. This work experience opportunity solidified my interest in choosing a teaching career as I realised how rewarding being involved in a young person’s development, both academically and personally, could be.
My passion for practical and theoretical aspects of Sport Science first developed during my college studies. During this time, I not only discovered a love for sports coaching, physiology, and biology but also a drive for scientific research and academic writing. This motivated me to further continue my studies of Sport Science at the University of Lincoln, graduating in 2019 with a 2:1 in BSc Sport and Exercise Science. During my time at university, my passion for sport science developed alongside my academic skills including my writing style and practical ability. I plan to demonstrate and continue to develop my academic skills throughout my teacher training.
I am finding my current role as a Cover Supervisor at my local high school extremely fulfilling. Taking on this fantastic role has allowed me to develop my academic, teaching and communication skills. This job has been a valuable ‘a first step’ towards my teaching career. I am fortunate to supervise the learning of students within various departments including P.E and across multiple year groups. This has allowed me to explore teaching within different learning environments and discover various ways to engage the school curriculum with each year group. I have also developed my classroom management and control skills and I can tailor my teaching style to suit the age group and/or individual class needs. Within this job, I have been able to face new challenges. This includes behavioural challenges which will quickly be met with the appropriate sanction. Additionally, academic challenges allow me to work with students as a class or individually, explaining the work in new ways until they fully understand and are confident with that subject.

About the lesson

My own personal approach to these online tutoring sessions is always cool, calm and collected.
Over the past year I have working in my local high school as a cover supervisor. I bring patience and understanding to several tough subjects as well as using fun, new and creative ways to help my students achieve their academic goals.
