About Maria

I am originally from Cyprus but I have lived in the UK since 2013. I studied medicine at the University of Cambridge. I also did an Intercalated Degree in Engineering and I have completed a PhD on brain cancer at the University of Cambridge. I love teaching and would be very happy to help any student, at any level. I have tutored in Science and Maths before and have also helped students complete their Personal Statement and prepare for UKCAT and BMAT when applying for medicine. I am also very happy to help with Greek. At school I did GCSEs and A-Levels so I am more comfortable teaching those, but I can look up the syllabus of other qualifications if required. I am free most evenings and during the weekend and I am happy to tutor in my house or elsewhere. Please contact me for any questions.

Perfect! An absolutely excellent science teacher.
Maria taught me for A-level physics. I chose her because from her academic record it's obvious that she's an expert at passing exams! Her communication skills are excellent - if she suspects that an explanation hasn't been understood, she readily finds an alternative perspective. Besides being one of the most difficult A-levels, physics is (I strongly suspect) her least familiar of the three natural sciences, and what I found most impressive was when she (very occasionally) had a doubt about what she was teaching, she would make a reasoned argument from the standpoint of a student, presenting it as a series of simple steps that were easily within reach. I actually found this much more helpful and enlightening than being talked at confidently would have been, and it showed the kind of thinking that has allowed her to achieve so highly. She is also very friendly!
