About Ayanda
My name is Ayanda Gwala. I have been playing chess and basketball since I was born. Seriously though, I have over 10 years of experience, playing chess since 2008 and basketball since 2012.
Chess:
-Western Province colours 2011.
-Nationals Gold medal 2012.
-Over 30 + tournaments played and finished in the top 10 of the standings.
-Over 2000 blitz rating online.
-Played in USSA (University Sports South Africa).
Basketball
-League player for Cape Town Basketball Association
-Varsity Basketball for UWC (University of the Western Cape)
-Best Male Player in High School
-Currently very hard to guard :)
I play and practise both sports almost every day with the aim of improving my skills and gaining more knowledge. I am a great shooter and dribbler in basketball. Teaching my skills, how I got them and how I have polished them over the years is something I am passionate about. I am a results-orientated person as I believe results show you whether what you have been practising is working or not.

I strongly believe in teaching something you can do well yourself. My methods of teaching vary depending on the person's experience, strengths and weaknesses.
In chess, I teach players from complete beginner to intermediate level (club level). We go through all aspects of the game, the opening, middle and end game. Also included is tactical and strategic training, both important elements in building a strong chess player.
In Basketball I teach dribbling, shooting, attacking, finishing, defence as well as strategic approaches to the game. We go through film study to see places that need improvement. Exercises that help build strength, agility and speed are also taught. All levels are welcome, from beginners to people with years of experience.
